Ross Township is located in Allegheny County in the state of Pennsylvania. It has a population of roughly 32,500 and was formed in 1809. The township is named after James Ross, a prominent Pittsburgh attorney.
Ross Township has a rich history that parallels American colonial development. The city began as a small collection of buildings and rest areas along a trail that was frequented by many American traders, soldiers, and settlers. George Washington is said to have traveled along many of the trails that border Ross Township. The land was settled mainly by farmers and soldiers; its economy consisted mainly of agricultural activity. Early establishments included a railway and a fire station. Today the area is largely residential though it still preserves much of the historical feel of its early beginnings. The township is a mix of several modern and old-style residential complexes.
In recent Ross Township legal news, resident Robert Carey has sued Community Management Solutions for harassment and employment issues. The company runs a condominium complex which Mr. Carey has been managing for quite some time. He was recently fired by the company, and claims that he had been subject to harassment by the company. Mr. Carey alleges that the company had harassed him about his weight, although the company denies such allegations. Carey brought suit February 2010, in Allegheny County courts for an unspecified amount of damages. Community Management Solutions has declined to issue any statements.
