Learn More About Spring Valley

Spring Valley is an unincorporated community located in San Diego County in the state of California. The community is combined with the nearby area of La Presa for census purposes. Spring Valley by itself has a population of about 27,000.
Spring Valley is named for a natural spring located in the area. The history of Spring Valley began in 1863 when Judge Augustus S. Enworth filed a claim for a ranch located on a 160 acre plot of land. He built an adobe house, known as the Bancroft house, which is now a National Historic Landmark. The plot of land also contains the natural spring for which the town is named after. Today the town is mainly a residential area for commuters traveling to downtown San Diego, which is located approximately 11 miles away from Spring Valley. Several condos and affordable homes dot the landscape, which is surrounded by beautiful hills.
In March 2010, a 10-mile privately owned San Diego County toll road has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The private toll road runs all the way from Spring Valley to Otay Mesa. In 2007, private company South Bay Expressway had teamed up with California public works department Caltrans to build the $843 million project. When the road was built, the company projected that 60,000 commuters would use the road daily. Instead, only about 22,000 cars use the road each day, putting the company behind a whopping $16 million per year in debts owed to lenders. The company cited a poor economy, including a collapse in home prices and a rise in unemployment as the reason for filing bankruptcy. The toll road is still in operation, but the company has fully turned over operations to Caltrans.
Filing for business bankruptcy is a delicate process and requires the services of a lawyer. If you feel that you are involved in any type of legal issue and you need a lawyer, can help you find one. LegalMatch is an online company that matches attorneys with clients, for free. After completing an online application, LegalMatch will match you with a lawyer in the Spring Valley area.
