Established through the consolidation of the then-called Princeton Township and Borough of Princeton, the municipality of Princeton is situated in New Jersey’s Mercer County.

Princeton is considered a college town mainly because it is home to the Princeton University. Theorists claim that Princeton is named after King William III or Prince William of Orange of the House of Nassau.
