Most Common Products & Services Law Issues:

Looking for a lawyer can be an intimidating experience.  This is especially true if you are not familiar with the legal field.  As a result, many people turn to attorney referral services to help make this task easier.

The South Carolina Bar Association offers a limited attorney referral service.  This service can be reached either by telephone or by submitting an easy-to-use online form.  After providing some basic information about yourself and your case, a lawyer referral will be provided.  This service is free to use, and the cost of your initial meeting with your lawyer is $50.

The South Carolina Bar’s service has several drawbacks.  Only one lawyer referral is provided, which is not helpful if you would like to meet with several attorneys in order to choose the right one.  Also, aside from an address and telephone number, no information is provided about the attorney being recommended.

In light of this, many people prefer to use private attorney referral services.  These services can be easily found online with a quick search, and most offer a more complete service than the South Carolina Bar.  In addition to offering multiple lawyer referrals, many provide information about those lawyers to help you make your decision.  Also, these services often maintain a wealth of legal information on their websites which can be accessed free of charge.  Finally, these services are free to use, and most have negotiated low prices for the first meeting with your lawyer.
