The family of a man slain by an off duty Arapahoe County police officer is suing the officer and Arapahoe County over the incident. According to the lawsuit, a fight broke out between the deceased man and the police officer when a cigarette was flicked out of the man's truck and hit the police officer's car. The 25 year old man got the better of the off duty police officer during the ensuing fight and was allegedly walking back towards his truck when the police officer pulled a gun out of his fanny pack and shot the man twice at point blank range. The police officer was earlier cleared of all criminal charges arising from the event.
