LegalMatch does a very good job of tracking information for me because I’m busy all the time. I would say that at least 30% of my clients come from LegalMatch, which is pretty big.
The most important thing for me with regards to my LegalMatch membership is being in control. When you are advertising on Google or some other platforms, you’re just waiting for the phone to ring. With LegalMatch there are leads that we can call, and when we go through a period of time where there’s not a lot of other cases coming in the door (because it ebbs and flows) we can concentrate on LegalMatch call backs. We’ve got control of that in LegalMatch, and it’s a lot better than just waiting around for the phone to ring.

If somebody wanted to be a LegalMatch member, I would say that if they want some control of when and how they get clients, it’s a good thing. If they don’t want to be beholden to just waiting for the phone to ring from Google ads (I’m not knocking it, I use some Google advertising as well, but those cases come and go randomly, so there’s basically no control over when and how you get cases) then LegalMatch is good.
If you combine LegalMatch with paralegals, a legal secretary or a legal assistant making calls and scheduling for you, it makes all the difference in the world.
You have to also combine templates with being proactive. The templates are a way to get that initial email to the client so that you have access to their contact information. You have to make the effort to make calls and email them.
Whenever there’s a situation where I look and say, “You know we haven’t signed a client in three or four weeks.” I can just say to my legal assistant, “I really need to hit those calls hard today.” And so we have a sense of control about our business, but that doesn’t mean that whenever you hit those calls, you’re going to get a client. But if you keep planting those seeds (calls and email follow-ups) eventually you get paying clients out of your membership.
I just like having the LegalMatch membership in my arsenal if I need new clients. I’ve never used another lead generating system before and I would say the LegalMatch lead generation provides good value when you consider the number of clients that I’ve gotten from it over the cost for a membership.
On average, I probably have at least three to four new people a day on LegalMatch that I could potentially call. Of all those, there are always a few you have to weed out, but I probably get about 14 to 15 workable leads from LegalMatch every week. Out of the 15, one to two become actual clients.
You have to do a lot of follow-ups and there are some people you'll never contact, you can never get hold of them. But then out of the ones that I did get hold of, I did phone consultations with, I probably converted maybe 20 to 25 of these into paying clients.
You’re going to have to do the work to get through and talk to those people in phone consultations, but if you keep doing that consistently, you're going to convert clients.
Let’s say we do a divorce case, which is potentially ten thousand dollars in fees. When you consider that I’m paying less than a thousand a month for my LegalMatch membership, if I get one divorce case from it, that’s a huge return on investment.
Account managers and support teams have been really good. I used them a lot at the beginning when I was learning the LegalMatch system, but I don’t utilize them very much now because I feel like I know the system really well. My staff knows the system really well, too. So we just keep churning it and getting the leads. Last year, I didn't think I needed any help with the system because it’s so easy to navigate.
