Your Attorney Profile contains detailed information about your professional qualifications, credentials, and experience. In essence, the Profile is your chance as an attorney to introduce yourself to potential clients, to explain who you are, and why you would be a good match for a client. Clients will use the Profile to select an attorney after receiving responses to a case.
In addition, your Profile contains the information that the LegalMatch system uses to match you with potential clients. Pay close attention when selecting practice areas and states, as this will determine the types of cases with which you are matched.
LegalMatch encourages potential clients to carefully review Attorney Profiles when selecting an attorney. Thus, the Profile will likely serve as the basis for the client's opinion when considering you as a potential attorney. Consequently, it is important to provide as much information as possible to increase your chances of being selected by a potential client.
While it is important to include your educational and professional experience, it is also important to include other helpful information, such as any languages you speak and specialized degrees or certificates. This way, clients will see your special qualities or skills that may be of extreme importance to them.
Additionally, when you provide pertinent information, you may want to remember to explain to potential clients why such information is important. For example, when listing a company as a representative client, you may want to include that the company you represented is the largest of its kind in your city instead of just listing the company name. This way, a potential client who has not heard of the company will understand the significance of your client.
You may also want to keep in mind that your Profile does not contain your name, firm name, phone number, or any other identification information. However, the client can learn this information by clicking on the "Contact lawyer" link that appears when he or she sees your response.
When selecting areas of law that you practice, keep in mind that the more categories you select, the better: by maximizing your professional experience, you are maximizing the number of clients who might select you for assistance with a case in that practice area. However, it is very important not to misrepresent experience in a practice area with which you are not familiar. This will not help clients and may subject you to liability.
Please remember that your state's rules of professional responsibility regarding attorney advertising may impact what you can include in your Profile. For example, most states prohibit attorneys from guaranteeing or implying a guaranteed outcome.
First, click the My Profile button on the left navigation bar.
The information that you previously entered in your profile will be displayed. If you would like to make changes to the information, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Modify" button.
To modify your first name or last name, contact attorneysupport@legalmatch.com. Remember that while information is optional, the more information you provide, the better your chances of being selected by a particular client.
