In the News: Recently, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper brought a civil action against three firms that claimed to help homeowners in foreclosure.  Cooper is seeking relief on behalf of customers who entered contracts with American Mortgage Assistance, Home Assure, and Metrolina Mortgage Relief.  These companies allegedly charged unreasonably high fees to customers and violated a law which prohibits foreclosure assistance firms from charging fees in advance of services.
