Medically prescribed for – Risperdal is an antipsychotic drug used to treat psychosis and schizophrenia.

Adverse reactions experienced – Some patients taking Risperdal have experienced drowsiness, weight gain, headache, vomiting, constipation, tremors, restlessness and fever. Senior patients also may be at an increased risk of strokes and possibly pancreatitis. Dementia also has been recorded in patients when doctors prescribe these drugs for “off-label” uses.

Status of drug – The Federal Drug Administration has recognized the link between these adverse reactions and the drug.  The drug’s manufacturer has sent warnings to physicians of the increased risk of strokes in senior patients.

See your doctor if you have experienced serious health problems after taking Risperdal.  You may also wish to contact an experienced products liability attorney who can help you protect your legal rights and get compensation for your injuries.
