Winslow, New Jersey is a township located in Camden County, New Jersey, and is conveniently located just 25 miles southeast of Philadelphia.  In 1831, the Winslow Glass Works, named after the founder’s son, Edward Winslow Coffin, was established and for whom the town is also named.  The township of Winslow was incorporated in 1845 and grew to its current population of about 35,000 people.
One of the most topical issues in Winslow and in Camden County today revolves around predatory lending procedures related to at least two Camden companies, “Hope Now Financial” and “New Hope Modifications.” By March, 2009, over 100 customers nationwide who applied for loan modifications and who spent over $100,000 in loan services from these two firms filed complaints with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office. However, neither firm was licensed as debt adjustors. The Attorney General filed civil charges against these firms for mortgage fraud but criminal charges are likely to follow if the allegations made are proven to be true. Winslow residents can file complaints against these firms or others suspected of participating in predatory lending by calling the Division of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-242-5846 or can consult a Winslow lawyer for further guidance.
In Winslow, litigants typically begin their case in the Camden County Court. This Court handles probate cases, civil claims, small claims, criminal charges, juvenile and family law related issues. Separate municipal and tax courts handle city and tax issues. An experienced Winslow lawyer can help you determine which court is most appropriate for your case or you can access one of the links below.
