Suffolk County is located in eastern Long Island, NY, and was named after Suffolk County, England. Suffolk County is home to about 1.4 million residents and is the 23rd most heavily populated county in the nation. Currently, most of these offenders are housed in a trailer that’s located in the Suffolk County Jail’s parking lot. However, some Suffolk County residents have complained that the trailer, which lies less than a quarter mile from George Schmelzer Park, violates a county law forbidding sex offenders from living near parks, school, and libraries.
