San Angelo, Texas is the 28th largest city in Texas with a population of about 92,000 residents. In 1867, San Angelo was founded to protect the new American Frontier from threats to the security of the region. San Angelo was the home of the historic Black Cavalry unit known as the Buffalo Soldiers.   Until 1883, San Angelo was called San Angela. However, citing that the name was grammatically incorrect, the United States Postal Service forced the city to change its name to San Angelo. Today, San Angelo has a strong economic base and has been named as one of "Best Places for Business and Careers" and one of “The Best Small Towns” in America by Forbes Magazine.
