Montgomery County is classified as an alcoholic beverage control state because it holds a monopoly on sales of hard liquor, and permits private stores to sell beer and wine. According to statistics compiled by the Montgomery County Circuit Clerk, criminal felony cases declined by 12% between 2007 and 2008, and criminal misdemeanors declined by 6%.
