Fair Lawn NJ Lawyers

Fair Lawn is a borough located within Bergen County, in northeast New Jersey. Fair Lawn was incorporated in 1924, and is currently home to about 31,600 people. A number of historical attractions can be found in Fair Lawn, including the Old Dutch House Tavern and the Native American fishing weir. Fair Lawn also boasts three shopping districts, located along River Road, Fair Lawn Avenue, and Broadway.

 

The Fair Lawn Municipal Court disposed of more than 18,400 cases last year. The court hears a wide range of cases, including motor vehicle and traffic offenses and driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drug offenses. Additionally, the Fair Lawn Court appoints public defenders for people who are unable to pay, and issues alternative sentences, such as violence counseling and drug intervention programs. A Fair Lawn Municipal Court Judge presides over the court, and serves a three-year term. 

 

Recently, the Federal Trade Commission filed suit against former Fair Lawn resident Dennis Lee for violating consumer protection laws. Specifically, Lee is accused of making false claims in connection with an invention that he claims converts any vehicle into a hybrid. This is not the first time Lee has faced charges in connection with his various devices. In 1988, Lee pleaded guilty to fraud for marketing a pump that he claimed generated electricity; and by 2003, eight states had accused Lee of similar violations. The FTC’s current case against Lee will be heard by the U.S. District Court in Newark.
